Fairbanks to Denali

Another short riding day. Only around 150 miles or so. But, the trip from Fairbanks to Denali was incredible. It was a bright clear day and the scenery was indescribable.

Made it to Denali park and spent some time in the visitors center. They have some really neat displays and the park is HUGE!!!! Over 2 million square miles. Hopefully, we will be able to see some of it on the jeep trip we are taking in the morning. It should be early enough that we may see lots of critters.

Here is a shot of the rustic cabins Dave and I are roughing it in tonight. There is a deck off the back that overlooks the river. We plan on drinking a little wine while we listen to the river rush by.
Since we got in so early today, we took a little ride on to the south, hoping we would be able to see some more of the mountains. But, about 30 miles south of the park entrance, it started getting really cloudy and we couldn't see much. So, we came back. Did get a couple of decent shots.
Went to the Salmon Bake restaurant, had cedar plank baked salmon that just makes my mouth water as I write about it. It was excellent. May have to do that again before we get out of Alaska.

Tomorrow will be the jeep trip in the morning, then off to Anchorage tomorrow night. People up here are unsure what the weather will be like, but I hope it continues just like today. We couldn't have asked for a better day.

Well, Dave is waiting to update his, so I better quit for now.
